Patrick Rassat, coach of the France team since 2005 draws a portrait of his group at 3 days of the round of the World Cup, held in Superdévoluy: “This will be the third round of the world cup of the season. This will be crucial for the selection at the world championships. This appointment is therefore very important for both the staff and the riders, who play their last cartridge. The French round will lead them or not to the world championships organized in early March, in Switzerland.

Xavier Gachet has already achieved a podium during this World Cup, and William Bon Mardion, a place of honor. In women’s competition, Axelle Mollaret achieved a podium on the first stage and will be eager to figure well for the only French round, organized in Le Dévoluy. The same goes for Lorna Bonnel who also achieves a podium in the second stage.
Among the hopes, Samuel Equy, Thibault Anselmet, Célia Perillat-Pessez, Lena Bonnel or Adele Milloz should also reveal their full potential.

Within the group, the atmosphere is excellent, I feel them all very motivated. They are real performers, they know that it is very important for them, both for their qualification at the World Championships and for the rest of the season.

Patrick Rassat will be this weekend with all the coaches and physiotherapists of the French team. The local Matthéo Jacquemoud in charge of young people will also be on spatulas to push his group.

10 nations will be represented: France, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Andorra, Japan, Russia, Norway, Germany and Austria.

Caroline Freslon, winner 2 years ago of La Grande Trace confirms her participation.

“I am participating for the third time in the Great Trace, I come with great pleasure on this race at once friendly but where the course is demanding and technical. This appointment is a good compromise and requires a certain level of training. For two years, I have not participated in any ski mountaineering race, it will be a little unknown to me, especially since I run with the American Hillary Gerardi. Hillary is a mountain runner, vertical kilometers, or skyrunning have no secrets for her. We met several times by chance on summits and we embarked on the adventure Great Trace.

Program :

  • Saturday 02/02, from 8am: individual event of the World Cup and La Grande Trace race
  • Sunday 03/03, from 9am: World Cup sprint

A spectator route marked off from the Superdévoluy snow front will allow the public to follow the competitors

From February 2 to 3, 2019, the Dévoluy hosts 2 events in 1: the traditional La Grande Trace ski mountaineering race and a world cup ski mountaineering round .

If the World Cup round has so far 10 nations represented, the favorites of La Grande Trace are not the least of the 100 teams already registered.

The duo of ultra traileurs Dhaene -Traub, faithful participant in La Grande Trace has confirmed once again its commitment.

Emilien Bochet and Léo Rochaix, the Savoyard duo, young prodigies of ski mountaineering are also among the favorites. Their current participation at La Belle Etoile reflects their current performance.

Finally, the team Florian Pinel – Frédéric Perrin CAF excellence, on the podium last year is also expected to be one of the teams potentially on the podium.

“All the riders are waiting for great races and beautiful tracks, an event like this is rare. I hope that the snow conditions will be favorable in 15 days in order to borrow the Dévoluards choura. This event will be a great party, we hope to welcome many spectators on the course dedicated to them on Saturday and around the course of the sprint on Sunday, on the snow front of Superdévoluy.
On the race side, the stars of the discipline will be present, the 2400 meters of elevation of the great course should leave traces. The team of volunteers even more dense than the previous editions will live beautiful moments. testified Yannick Gast, director of the race.
